The Hotel Zaatari Project
Hotel Zaatari is an artistic initiative raising awareness and changing perceptions towards the Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camp on the Jordan/Syrian border.
In July 2013 Anthony Dawton and Jim McFarlane, two art house filmmakers Mais Salman and Zaid Balqaeen and the creative writer John Lillywhite entered the Zaatari camp. Out of their time in the camp have come moving and complex artworks including audio, literature, photography and film. The result is a body of work built from the perceptions and viewpoint of the refugees who have fled and arrived at a place that both their bodies and their minds struggle to cope with.
