The eight days spent in the Muzzaffarabad region of Kashmir were probably the most extraordinary of Anthony Dawton's career. The level of destruction was beyond imagination and it filled him with the deepest despair. The 2005 Kashmir earthquake occurred at 08.52 in the morning, the state capital of Muzzaffarabad was the most badly affected in terms of causalities and destruction, it was at this time that most of the children in the region were sitting down for morning assembly in schools.
